Summary

The Equipment & Facilities Manager is responsible for the Building, the Tools and Equipment Maintenance, Fleet, Transport & Logistics Management associated with the operational activities within the company.


In this role you will also work to ensure that all work facilities are secure, well maintained, compliant with the required regulations and safe to work in and that the condition of and services to those facilities meet the needs of the organization and its employees. 


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develops annual budgets, monitors and controls the operating and personnel expenses related to the Plant department
  • Recommends to the management team ways to improve operational efficiency through strategic investment
  • Reviews and verifies Purchase requisitions associated with the Plant operations
  • Maintains responsibility for any all fixed assets of the company
  • Manages daily operations for Plant including receiving, storage, issuing, inventory management and equipment maintenance functions
  • Responsible for developing an effective work program to satisfy the requirements of the Preventative Maintenance Program
  • Implement and monitor equipment repair/replace strategies to satisfy the requirements of the Corporate annual capital program
  • Provides technical input/advises on equipment procurement and disposals
  • Develop and maintain a system of equipment and tools tracking, logging; including required inspections, repairs and warranty issues
  • Tracks and maintains all company vehicles to meet statutory and safety requirements
  • Develop and implement work instructions & procedures to ensure they are being followed
  • Assist in the training of new and existing employees in the proper use of tools and equipment as necessary, instructions and procedures
  • Physical Monitoring of Parts Stock Levels with checks and audits via the Preventative Maintenance system
  • Determines methods of storage, identification, and equipment location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, usage/turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space
  • Ensure the storage of items in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information for ease of access
  • Ensures verification of incoming materials to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices
  • Fills orders/requests for equipment and materials from job sites (locally/regionally)
  • Compiles reports on loss or damage to equipment and location changes
  • Responsible for Stock/asset checks and re-checks, follow-up on discrepancies and reconciliations
  • Perform work site visits to audit onsite equipment
  • Assists in mobilization and demobilization of job sites
  • Use best business practices to manage and reduce operation costs
  • Manage Facilities improvement projects as required
  • Ensure the security of the building by researching and implementing various security measures, such as surveillance cameras or security staff members
  • Ensure that facilities meet government regulations as well as environmental, health, safety and security standards
  • Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving the facility
  • Provide direction, development and leadership to team members
  • Support and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

 

Benefits Package

  • Base Salary - 30K-40K

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Ideally Mechanical or Civil Engineering) or equivalent training & experience
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience in the maintenance, management, transport and tracking of heavy machinery and equipment (e.g. cranes, forklifts, excavators, tractors, trucks, scaffolding, jackhammers, power tools)
  • Minimum of 2 years Facilities Management experience
  • 2 years Construction related experience 
  • Proficient-plus level user of MS Excel and MS Word
  • Technologically savvy 
  • Communication and influencing skills, in person and in writing
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and decision-making skills
  • Previous experience leading teams of 10 or more 
  • The ability to lead and manage projects
  • Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies but also the ability to see the implications for the bigger picture
