Support Technician

Job description


Our client, a technology solutions company, is seeking a service oriented, Support Technician to provide quality ICT and Technical support that exceed customer expectations.

In this role you will be required to perform diagnosis and resolution of technical problems, troubleshooting issues both remotely and in person.  

Description of Responsibilities

  • Develop a familiarity with all internal hardware/software systems, local networks and equipment
  • Troubleshoot problems with hardware/software (e.g. laptops, desktops, hard drives, viruses, malware etc)
  • Perform regularly scheduled maintenance activities with appropriate timing
  • Maintain inventory and physical location of all hardware devices, tools, equipment and stock supplies
  • Provide feedback to Information Technology Manager regarding possible solutions to reoccurring issues and complex technical issues
  • Develop user guides for troubleshooting and the proper use of hardware and software 
  • Recommend strategies to prevent downtime
  • Be proactive in anticipating problems and user needs
  • Ensure that users issues are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain and/or log all IT support requests via the service desk 
  • Assist in preparation and installation of software and peripheral devices
  • Install, operate and maintain network services, routers, switches, modems and other network devices to required specifications and/or configurations 
  • Monitor the performance of systems, services and the network 
  • In all matters relevant to customers make every effort to achieve complete, accurate, and timely communications with the organisation

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday


Minimum Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an IT Technician or relevant roles
  • 2 years experience with instillation or service of electronic security systems (CCTV, access control and alarms) will be an asset
  • Sound knowledge of computer hardware/software, internet security, networks, and operating systems
  • Critical thinker with excellent problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Valid drivers license

  • Technical Certifications (e.g. A+, CCNA, Microsoft MCITP)
