Summary

Our client is seeking a experienced Chef with a passion for the restaurant industry for their Tapas restaurant in Port of Spain Trinidad. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff
  • Train kitchen staff on restaurant recipes, formulas, plating etc.
  • Roster kitchen staff based on periods of demand to ensure the highest standards of quality are met
  • Inform and work cohesively with wait-staff regarding daily specials and other promotions
  • Ensure appealing plate presentation
  • Supervise assistant cooks and assist as needed
  • Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
  • Monitor food stock and place orders to keep inventory at adequate levels to meet daily demand
  • Manage costs through inventory control and efficiently roster staff
  • Make suggestions to directors to improve day to day operations of the kitchen and restaurant
  • Create and Suggest new menu items to Directors
  • Development of new Menus for special occasions 
  • Ensure freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
  • Procurement of best and fresh ingredients in the market and where need be 

Job Benefits

  • Base Salary $10,000 TTD

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience 

  • 7 years experience as a Chef
  • Experience working as a leader within a high-level hotel or restaurant, overseeing a high volume culinary operation
  • Fluent in the English language
  • Excellent Team management and people skills
  • Communication with guests
  • Creative Chef with focus on quality and presentation
  • Dedicated and passionate about cooking
  • Menu design and development experience
  • Cost Control experience
  • Inventory and Stock ordering experience
  • Available for at least 1 year full time contract
  • Eligible to work 5 days per week (Tuesday to Saturday) from 4pm to 11pm and Alternating Sunday's (8am to 2pm)
