Summary

This Materials & Logistics Manager is responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products to meet company objectives and customer requirements. 


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provides leadership and direction in the development of materials management plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed
  • Provides technical expert advice on the proper storage of materials and equipment
  • To work in conjunction with senior management to effectively plan, develop and implement strategies to effectively control site material levels and to provide a return on total assets
  • Management of the Material Management Team to ensure that relevant functions are performed, focusing on training and development of all employees supervised and to provide the necessary resources to facilitate the achievement of individual employee goals, high morale and job satisfaction
  • Development and implement a job site Materials/Inventory Control system and owns the materials receiving, storage and distribution process
  • Ability to advise management on the financial implications of decisions as it relates to material management
  • Appropriates material and determines subsequent delivery dates to job sites/departments on the basis of work order priority and material availability; Arranges transfer of materials to meet internal and external schedules
  • Works with purchasing and suppliers for Stocking Agreements, Alliances and Partnerships to enhance overall project execution
  • Analyzes data and records to manage material inventory; writes in-process production reports; tracks the state and site of materials
  • Maintenance of a fully Computerized Inventory System including reordering as necessary
  • Supervises the movement or transport of all materials on, off or between sites; conducts site audits as necessary
  • Management of the Warehousing operation including safety, security and house-keeping for all sites
  • Support the Company’s Continuous Improvement Process by ensuring the management of the On-time deliveries process
  • Responsible for all Health, Safety and Environmental compliance in the department, in accordance with all stakeholders’ policy and procedures
  • Management of stocks and encoding information into database 
  • Prepares a variety of studies, reports and related information for decision-making purposes

Benefits Package

  • Base Salary - 25K-40K (Dependent on Qualifications & Experience) 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Materials Management or a related field
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the management of materials and sourcing - within a manufacturing or construction environment 
  • Experience working an Enterprise System, MRP or ERP systems such as ReQlogic or SAP
  • Proficient-plus level user of MS Excel and MS Word
  • Highly computer savvy and technologically driven
  • Extensive knowledge of shipping and freight logistics 
  • Experience managing contracts and agreements 
  • Project Management Certification PMP would be an asset 
  • Ability to travel within the Caribbean 1-2 times a month is required
  • Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships in a union and non-unionized environment
  • Communication and influencing skills, in person and in writing
  • Demonstrated focus on HSE
  • Proven ability to proactively deliver against set objectives
